The Analysis of Components of Salivary Calculi

Abstract

|
It is generally accepted that salivary calculi are not an uncommon condition in otolaryngology and present a disturbance of salivation,pain and swelling in feeding. Salivary calculi may be found in all salivary gland or duct, but the. majority in the su-bmaxillary gland or duct. Salivary calculi were mainly composed of calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, and protein.
Authors performed the analysis of components of extracted calculi. by agents(hy￢drochioride, phosphoric acid, ammonium oxalate, sodium phosphate) in 18 cases of salivary calculi encountered in past 14 years, we got results.
The results were as following; 38.8% of calcium phosphate, 33.3% of calcium carbonate, 16.6% of magnesium phosphate, 11.1% of magnesium carbonate.
